How it Works

Each member can nominate a charity, three charities are randomly selected at the meeting. The three charities are presented by their nominating members and are voted on at the meeting. One of the lucky charities receives all the money raised. Each member commits to $100 per meeting, $400 per year.

Easy as that.

How to be our favoured charity

Any local charity can be nominated, only members can nominate a charity. Local meaning within Centre Wellington or effecting the Centre Wellington area. Charities must be registered with the CRA and have a charitable number

To become a member, fill out a membership form. Once you have committed to be a member, you can then nominate a charity.

Three charities will be randomly chosen at the to the meeting.

Please note, if your charity is chosen, you will be asked to give a 3-5 minute speech at the meeting, so members, come prepared.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Join?

Please contact us by email to indicate your interest.

Which charitable organizations are eligible for consideration by the group?

In order to be considered at a meeting, the organization must be based in the Centre Wellington area and it must be a registered not-for-profit or charitable organization eligible to provide tax receipts for donations. It must be previously established (no start-ups). No national or international charities, programs or organizations will be considered at this time as the current focus is on contributing to our local community. An organization that is selected for the group donation may not be considered again for two years. We will not raise funds for other fundraising charitable organizations. The exception is a specific program within a large organization (for example a specific department or program within a hospital), which may be considered again after one year for a different program or department. Any member wishing to submit a charitable organization for consideration must complete our online Organization Fact Sheet at least one week prior to the scheduled meeting.

Is my donation tax deductable?
Yes, as only registered not-for-profit and charitable organizations will be sponsored by the group. Cheques are written directly to the charitable organization and NOT to 100 Women Who Care Centre Wellington. Tax receipts will be issued directly by the charitable organization.
How is the organization that receives the group donation chosen?

A member who has signed the Commitment Form can submit the name of a local organization by email for a random drawing at our scheduled meeting.
The nominated charities will be printed and put into a hat to be drawn at the meeting by members. Members need to be prepared to present their charity if drawn. Each presentation is limited to under 5 minutes.

What if I cannot attend a meeting?

Understand the importance of your donation, regardless of your attendance or vote for the selected charity, needs to be submitted.  You can send in a signed cheque with a friend, OR e-transfer the funds to cw100wwc@gmail.com and your donation will be added to the others.

Can I just send the donation to the charity myself?

No. We want to be able to support this endeavour and give $10,000+ dollars at a time to make a large impact in our community with each member’s donation being part of the larger donation.

How long do the meetings last?
Meetings are intended to be very short and no longer than 60 minutes. We do encourage members to stay after the meeting to socialize and network with their fellow members.
Can I bring a friend to the meeting?
Of course, you can! We are always seeking new women who care! However, in order to vote she will need to sign a commitment form and become a member. Otherwise, she is free to observe and contribute a donation if she likes.
Does any of my donation go to administration costs of 100 Women Who Care Centre Wellington?
Absolutely not! 100 Women Who Care Centre Wellington is organized and operated entirely by volunteers. 100% of the money raised at our meetings goes directly to the selected organizations!
What do you do with my personal information?
100 Women Who Care Centre Wellington collects your personal information (including name, address, email address, phone number) strictly for the purpose of maintaining our membership list. 100 Women Who Care Centre Wellington will not sell, give or otherwise share your personal information without your express consent unless required by law.
Is it possible to put together a team of women to meet the required $400 per year?

Yes, as long as each member of the team makes a note in the memo line of their cheque which team they belong to for tracking purposes. For charity and not for profit nomination and voting purposes, each team is considered one member. That means your team may have one organization nominated at a time, and your team will get one vote at the meeting, and only one tax receipt will be submitted per group per meeting.
